did you know that in all of zeewolde there is not one traffic light? in zeewolde, basically everything is accessible on foot or by bike. several elementary schools, pre- and after-school care, high school, but also the supermarket and gym are at most a few minutes cycling. the sports fields and sports hall, where a wide variety of sports are practiced as well as a golf course are almost around the corner. with a short walk you can walk into the horsterwold, the largest contiguous deciduous forest in western europe, including the unique nature reserve the stille kern! here you can cycle, skate, horseback ride and hike endlessly. dogs can come along on a leash, but there are also sections of forest where they can sniff around freely. what makes it even more fun is that during your walk you might just come across a deer, fox or beaver! not to mention the many (predatory) birds that can be spotted. if you walk in the other direction you will be on the beach of the wolderwijd in five minutes. here you will find several beaches with varying themes such as a children's beach, youth beach, surf beach and a dog beach. at fika you can enjoy a cup of coffee or in the evening enjoy a drink and a nice meal overlooking the atoll (a private swimming location on the beach in the wolderwijd).
